Firefly is an awesomely written story that is definitely worth its weight in gold and is a must-see if you are a fan of Science Fiction. After getting the best script I have ever read, as well as one of the best casts and soundtracks out there, the movie adaptation is even better. The Writers and Directors of the Movie make it their goal to deliver an incredible experience for your mind, heart and body.
In this exciting Sci-Fi story, a story with some parallels to Plato's Republic, the famous Greek philosopher Socrates (Alan Tudyk) of the First Atlantis is at it again, but this time he is playing a practical joke on two women, Odie (Zoe Saldana) and Eline (Holly Hunter). After they get together, he lets slip that he has another trick up his sleeve. He tells them that he is going to give them a choice of being with him or being with Aphrodite, the goddess of love. However, since he is married, Aphrodite says she doesn't want to be with him and leaves.
To save themselves from getting hurt by the god of lust, Eline and Odie ask the help of their ex-friend and fellow member of the Blues, Firefly (Iain De Caestecker). Now, for the first time, these two females meet the handsome and brilliant Captain Mal Reynolds (Neil Patrick Harris) of the Firefly, as he is admiring the beautiful bodies of the two ladies. After some playful banter between these two characters, the movie starts and the story picks up immediately. Not only is the story captivating but the actors and actresses are also top notch and carry the entire movie in their strong performance.
This movie is a super smash hit, with the typical online rating of a blockbuster entertainment movie, and the fine cast and crew. I have always had a soft spot for this series and Firefly in particular, so it was cool to see them take the character and the story to a new level. I have to admit that I was expecting something a little different, but the great acting in this movie made me feel like I was in the characters minds and not just in the story telling. The whole movie was just so great that I was always ready for more and felt like I needed to see more.
Seasons two and three of the TV show were excellent. They had great action scenes, extremely well directed movie sequences, some very funny moments, and incredibly high production values. So it was nice to see some of the actors and actresses from this series appear in the movie and bring their talents to the table.
The movie itself had a similar feel to the three seasons of the TV show and was very similar to the season two episode of the comic series, "The Legend of Michael". It is really hard to describe the movie as not one person can really say, because the movie just leaves you wanting more. The ending of the movie was fantastic, as it was set up brilliantly for a sequel that I am sure will be released sooner rather than later.
The entire series of Firefly has been ported over to the big screen and received very good reviews. If you like a fun action packed Sci-Fi movie then I urge you to watch this movie. For those of you who haven't seen it, this is a must watch and can be watched as soon as you can.
So, if you're looking for a movie that is long, intriguing, and filled with action and humor than you should watch this online community based film. It has been compared to John Carter and it is truly a piece of art.
