For anyone who has not watched the Ip Man TV series, it is the latest one in the Ip Man movies. For many years the Ip Man had was fighting crime as an undercover agent and the story was all about his exploits. The movie also featured the memorable Kung Fu Kid, the criminal cousin of the hero. This was the last part of the movie and most fans were disappointed that it was not the final episode.
The movie starts with the Ip Man going undercover to protect a kid named Sam from being kidnapped on the Internet. He gets tangled up in a web of people who all want to make money on the Internet so they can rob people.
It is really fun watching the different types of crime in the movie when the Ip Man investigates. When he investigates a person, he is the head of the government to regulate cyber crimes and the virtual world.
In the movie he is called in when another online criminal has just killed Sam by hacking into his e-mail account. This leads to many different types of online criminals looking for revenge and Sam's mom is worried that her son may be next on their hit list.
The movie is very detailed with the various characters and how each one interacts with the others in the series. The storyline is consistent throughout the movies and the setting of China is where most of the action takes place.
The overall plot of the movie is quite good but a bit convoluted in its progression. This would be easily solved if they added some action and more interesting characters that could get under the skin of the audience.
The movie was entertaining enough, if only the script was a little better. This may be due to the limited budget of the movie. The producers of the movie do not seem to have any idea of how to translate a screenplay to a movie.
I am a big fan of the Ip Man series and it makes me miss him when I am on the other side of the world. I always found the web comic on-line to be more entertaining than the movie, so I am not really upset that I missed this movie. Now I just have to wait for the next one!
